This is where I obsess over sounds, words and rhythm, and fine-tune every element in order to say as much as possible with as little as possible. Starting as a merely ambient sound design project, soon I gave in to the temptation and started pouring words into the mix. It now serves as my sole window to the world, where everyone gets to look back in.

The name DEEV shares an etymological root with Zoroastrian Daeva, Latin Deus, and Vedic Devá, all meaning 'divine'. Yet strangely its definition has evolved through time, so much so that in the past two millenia it's carried an almost compeletely deragatory connotation, and has been used to indicate a manifest of evil. However, in its original sense, it was used to address the rejected gods, and later, the gods of the rebels.

As DEEV, I compose, write, play, record and produce all the material. I also create all the visual artworks for releases and shows, often through collaboration with other artists, and design and automate my own lighting for live sets.

Hailed as one of the most authentic Iranian alternative acts of the past decade, this band has been a home to me where I've grown both musically and emotionally. It started as Raam Emami's solo project back in 2011. I joined him when he moved back to Tehran in 2014, and while the band has gone through various iterations and many uphill battles, we're still writing, recording and performing together, currently based out of Vancouver, Canada.

With King Raam, I co-write the music and lyrics, play bass and keys and share vocal duties, create drum parts, produce and engineer our recordings, manage distribution and merch sales, and also wear the art director hat during our release or tour promotion campaignes.
